Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Throughout our time in business, we’ve had a lot of questions from customers about decorative concrete, contractors, pricing, and our process. Here are some of our most common questions answered. If you don’t see your question listed, be sure to give us a call or send us a message. We’ll make sure to give you a concrete answer!

How long have you been in business?

GWC has been in business for over 22 years.

Are you insured?

We are licensed and bonded in Oregon and Washington state.

How long will the process take?

Project time can vary depending on the project. While living in a construction zone can be strenuous, rushing can provide a less than stellar final product. We strive hard to give you a realistic time frame to complete your project from the beginning. We also stay in contact with our customers throughout the process to give them all updates.

How much do concrete contractors charge?

Pricing can vary. Give us a call to set up an estimate. Just remember, if the price is too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.

How do you choose a concrete contractor?

Do your research! Can they bring YOUR vision to life? Do they have a body of work that can back that claim? Do they treat you like they value you and your business? There are many things to consider when choosing a reputable concrete contractor. If you choose a contractor based on their availability and/or their price alone, you might end up getting a sub-par product.

What questions should I ask a concrete contractor?

Whatever you like. The more informed you are as a client, the better! Don’t be afraid to ask if they are licensed and bonded or if they have references from previous clients. GWC values transparency and making sure our customers have all the information that makes them feel comfortable with the work we are providing.

How am I supposed to charge my electric car with my driveway demolished?

If you have an electric car, GWC can accommodate you. We can provide street-level charging for your electric car. We have an ample stock of 50-Amp cable to keep your vehicle charged during the project life cycle.

Will my concrete crack?

YES! And that is ok. All concrete inevitably cracks. But GWC places all our concrete on a standard bed of compacted gravel, provides and places rebar throughout, and carefully place control joints to help guide the cracks. Our concrete will be structurally stable. Depending on your finish, we can minimize the appearance of superficial cracks that occur. There are also options for repairing cracks in concrete farther down the line.

What are the different types of decorative concrete?

There are many types of concrete design types. GWC specializes in sand (acid etch) finish, exposed aggregate, stamped and colored concrete, etc. Each style has a wide range of options; including color and patterns.

Where can I use decorative concrete?

Anywhere! GWC specializes in the complex. You can place decorative concrete in your backyard, front yard, or even indoors. We can create patios, architectural steps, planters, driveways and more. If you can dream it, we can build it.

How does decorative concrete affect the value of my home?

A well-placed patio, stairs, or driveway can bump your curb appeal drastically. Learn more about how a concrete patio can increase the value of your home here.

Can I DIY decorative concrete?

Decorative concrete is what we specialize in. We have over 40 combined years of field experience. If you want it done right, trust in the professionals. Call GWC.

What kind of maintenance is necessary for my concrete?

Routine maintenance sealing is recommended at least every two years, especially in the rainy Pacific Northwest. You can extend the life of your new concrete with periodic cleaning and sealing. If you have existing concrete that isn’t on a routine maintenance schedule, it’s not too late. We can bring life to your existing concrete through our process.

Why should I choose GWC Decorative Concrete?

GWC values the “three P’s” – Protection, process, and product. When we protect the customer, our employees, and project and follow the process that has made us successful over the last 22 years, the final product will happen on its own and look amazing. We have a passion for what we do, and it shows through our work. Give us a call so we can bring your project to life.
