Concrete Repair and Restoration

Concrete is an amazingly durable material that lasts for decades when properly installed, but concrete surfaces that haven’t been regularly washed and resealed will sustain damage.

Does your formerly beautiful concrete patio or driveway look a little faded? Has it lost that crisp color you remember from the day it was installed? Maybe there are even visible cracks or holes.

  • Weather
  • Heavy cars
  • Dirt, moss, fungi, and algae
  • Stains and discoloration
  • Normal wear and tear

Cracks, tough stains, moss, and other debris can ruin the look of your concrete surface. Depending on where they are, they can even pose safety hazards. Since 1997, GWC Decorative Concrete has been offering a wide range of high-quality concrete repair and restoration services in the Portland area. We can bring your concrete patio back to its original condition and reinforce it so it stays that way.

Invest in your property and restore your driveway, patio, floor, or other concrete surface to its former glory!

Repair

Rainy weather, freeze-thaw issues, and exposure to certain chemicals can cause cracks and other common concrete problems. Addressing damage quickly is the best way to stop it from getting worse, whether that means smoothing over a few rough spots or opting for a full concrete resurfacing.

In addition to repairing existing damage, preventative maintenance is also important — especially for stamped concrete, since its grooves and textured surfaces tend to collect debris. During Portland’s rainy season, this can even create unsafe, slippery spots. Our pressure washing process completely removes moss, fungi, alge, dirt, and anything else that has made your concrete surface its home.

Our comprehensive concrete repair and pressure washing services will make your driveway, patio, or other surface beautiful, safe, and more durable than before.

Restore

Once we have a plan to repair structural issues and prevent future damage, we focus on restoring your concrete’s appearance. This often involves eliminating tough stains and discoloration. We’ve never met a stain we can’t handle. With 75+ years of combined experience in the concrete industry, we know what type of cleaning agent works best for each type of stain:

  • Oil and grease stains on the driveway or carport call for alkaline degreasers.
  • Degreasers also work well for soot stains, which are common near portable fire pits on concrete patios.
  • Oxalic acid is the best cleaner on concrete that has been stained with rust (which can be especially stubborn).
  • Spray paint stains should be soaked in potassium hydroxide for several hours prior to pressure washing. Then we apply an acid neutralizer.

Reinforce

Once your concrete is strong, clean, and fresh again, you probably want to keep it that way. Resealing helps maintain the sharp, detailed appearance of stamped concrete and keeps colors looking radiant. But it’s not just an aesthetic issue. If we don’t reseal your concrete, future damage will eventually expose the underlying aggregate layer, and once that happens, the integrity of the entire concrete pad has been compromised.

Resealing is the final step of any successful concrete repair and restoration project, but all decorative concrete should be resealed periodically, even if it’s in good shape. In our experience, most homeowners get the best results when they reseal their concrete surfaces twice a year.

Our concrete restoration contractors can talk to you about your options and recommend a sealer that is well-suited to your concrete and climate.
